DIY Kafta Sandwiches

Ingredients

Kafta

  • 1 ½ pounds of your choice of lean ground beef, lamb or veal

  • 1 medium onion, chopped or grated

  • ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice

  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Assembly

  • Flatbread of your choice (such as pita, naan or tortilla), heated

  • Fresh veggies of choice (ex: parsley, bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers)

  • (Optional) Your choice of hummus, tzaziki and garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, onion, parsley and spices until evenly combined. Let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  2. Preheat the oven to 325 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. Shape your kofta into logs, approximately 1 inch thick and 4 inches long, and transfer onto the baking sheet.

  4. Bake in the oven until the meat is cooked through (about 20-30 minutes).

  5. Assemble your sandwich with your toppings of choice and enjoy!
