Chocolatey Energy Bites
These energy bites make for a delicious & nutrient-packed homemade snack, combining the deliciousness of dates for taste, the creaminess of almond butter, and the heart healthy benefits of hemp seeds.
It’s a satisfying snack that can supply you with a quick energy boost before a workout or to help fuel the mid-day funk especially on those busier days. Bonus: most of these ingredients can likely find themselves in the comfort of your home pantries!
Yields: 10 energy bites
Ingredients
⅔ cup oats (quick cooking oats or slightly blended rolled oats)
¼ cup dates, blended
⅓ cup hemp seeds
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp of maple syrup, honey or agave syrup
¼ cup almond butter
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon fine grain salt
Instructions
Whisk together all dry ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
Add the wet ingredients and stir until well incorporated.
Create 1.5 TBSP bite-sized pieces and set on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Place in the fridge for 2-4 hours to set.
